Yun Qianyue watched Rong Jing walk out of the Shallow Moon Pavilion, and a corner of his white moon-patterned robe disappeared from her sight. Suddenly, her heart tightened, and she got up abruptly to chase after him. As she walked too hurriedly, her arm bumped into the door frame, and two scrolls hidden in her sleeves flew out and fell on the ground with a “plop” sound, causing her to stop suddenly.

The two scrolls unfolded, revealing identical purple bamboo groves before her eyes.

Yun Qianyue stared at the scrolls for a moment. She bent down to pick them up and stuffed them back into her sleeves. Then she turned around and looked out of the Shallow Moon Pavilion’s door, suddenly losing the courage to chase after him again. She leaned against the door frame, closing her eyes with some exhaustion.

Regarding Xiao Qi, whether in this life or the previous one, regardless of who he was to her, she could never forget him. Rong Jing, why did you ask such a question Why did you have to ask that question and leave me no way to answer

No matter how I answered, it would be wrong!

Xiao Qi’s birth and his death, the explosion in Vienna's sky of the past life, forever left an indelible mark on her heart.

"Miss, what's wrong The Viscount Jing just passed by. Did you two have another disagreement" Cai Lian came out from the next room, cautiously looking at Yun Qianyue.

Yun Qianyue slowly opened her eyes. Before her was Cai Lian’s small face, three parts tense and three parts cautious, with something indiscernible hidden behind it. She tugged at the corner of her mouth without a hint of a smile, asking softly, "Cai Lian, where does your grandmother live"

Cai Lian was startled, all expressions on her face turning to tension, “Miss, you suddenly asked about my grandmother...”

"I just thought of it and wanted to know," Yun Qianyue smiled faintly.

“My grandmother lives in an old house west of the suburb,” Cai Lian suppressed her tension and lowered her head.

Yun Qianyue looked at Cai Lian, her gaze flickering slightly, “How old is your grandmother”

"Her eightieth birthday will be in a few days," Cai Lian said softly.

"Which day" Yun Qianyue asked again.

“Three days from now,” Cai Lian's voice was barely audible.

“I’ve always heard that you have a grandmother. But with so many things happening, I didn't get around to taking care of your matter. This way, go and withdraw five hundred taels of silver from the accounting office and return home to celebrate her birthday,” Yun Qianyue pondered for a moment before smiling.

“Miss” Cai Lian was alarmed, suddenly raising her head to look at Yun Qianyue.

Yun Qianyue looked at her with a smile. "You’ve been by my side for so long, and this can be seen as a token of our master-servant relationship."

Cai Lian suddenly knelt down in front of Yun Qianyue with a “thump,” tears streaming down her face, "Miss, please don't send me away. I will correct anything I did wrong; please..."

“Five hundred taels isn’t enough for you to support your grandmother” Yun Qianyue stared at Cai Lian crying and pleading with no reaction, “You get two taels of silver a month in wages, plus occasional rewards from me. In a year, you don't even earn more than ten taels. Five hundred taels is enough for five years’ worth; after this, you won’t need to serve as a maidservant anymore and will be able to fulfill your filial duties by her side.”

Cai Lian trembled, sobbing, "I can't bear to part with Miss..."

“I also don’t want you to leave, but think of how old your grandmother is. Shouldn’t you spend more time with her” Yun Qianyue bent down and helped Cai Lian up, saying earnestly: "From a young age, the maidservants around me usually stay for less than half a year. You’ve been here for two months longer, which is already an exception."

“Miss...” Cai Lian choked as she looked at Yun Qianyue.

Yun Qianyue released her arm and instructed Zhao Mama who had come out upon hearing the commotion, "Auntie Zhao, take Cai Lian to withdraw five hundred taels of silver from the accounting office and send her home to honor her grandmother.

"Yes!" Mrs. Zhao looked at Cailian with reluctance but still bowed her head and responded respectfully.

"Also, tell Uncle Meng to select a maidservant for me who will personally attend to my needs starting tomorrow," Yun Qianmo instructed further.

"Yes!" Mrs. Zhao responded again.

Yun Qianmo glanced at Cailian and saw her already with tears streaming down her face. She concealed her feelings, turned around, and walked back into the room. As the door closed, she heard Cailian cry out loudly. She sighed silently; Cailian was the first person she met after regaining consciousness, and killing her would leave some regret behind. Regardless of whether she was bribed by Qin Yuceng or threatened, or whether she belonged to someone else, she could no longer stay around her. Despite appearing innocent, she managed to cleverly deceive Yun Qianmo into going to the prayer tree without revealing anything suspicious. She remembered that it was Cailian who had held her when they fell into the underground temple’s secret room; both Cailian and Qin Yuceng were pulling at her then. Back then, she suspected Night Tianqiong and Qin Yuceng but not Cailian. Now thinking about it, the best disguise is the most lethal weapon. She hoped that after this departure, Cailian would take better care of herself.

"Cailian, don't cry! Let's go! Your grandmother is so old now. Miss has been kind and 500 taels of silver should be enough for you to serve your grandmother until the end of her days in peace. Former maids were exchanged every half a year, yet you stayed an extra month here and even received 500 taels of silver; Miss treated you much better than others," Mrs. Zhao comforted Cailian.

"Mrs. Zhao, I don't want to leave Miss, I can't bear leaving all of you…" Cailian cried sorrowfully.

"You have a long time ahead! When you've fulfilled your filial duties towards your grandmother, you may ask Miss again to return," Mrs. Zhao pulled up the crying Cailian who had fallen to the ground. "Stop crying now; Miss has a good heart and can see that she cares about you too. If you continue, it will hurt her feelings. Miss does this for your own good."

"Mrs. Zhao, do you think I could come back" Cailian choked out.

"Yes, serving Miss has made her much more cheerful than before. She remembers all the kindnesses you've done and will be willing to let you return after your grandmother's passing if you wish," Mrs. Zhao nodded.

"Good!" Wiping away her tears, Cailian allowed Mrs. Zhao to lead her out.

Listen Snow, Listen Rain, and the people from Shallow Moon Pavilion were surprised that Yun Qianmo suddenly wanted Cailian to return home to serve her grandmother but showed understanding despite their reluctance. They thought it was for the best since Miss had a good heart and Auntie Cailian was approaching eighty; she needed someone close by. They all hurriedly went out to see her off.

Standing by the window, Yun Qianmo watched as Cailian left Shallow Moon Pavilion with everyone's escort. Behind the curtains, her expression darkened.

Soon after, Cloud Meng rushed in and asked before he even arrived, "Miss, something happened again!"

"What is it" Yun Qianmo opened the window to look at Cloud Meng.

"The eldest Miss cried back here, swearing she won't marry the third son of the Filial Piety Prince's Household. She said if anyone forces her, she'll kill herself," Cloud Meng reported from the doorway: "Now there's a commotion in her room; she's smashing things!"

"The matter regarding marrying the third son of the Filial Piety Prince's Household was arranged by Commander Feng on behalf of Prince Virtuous. I wasn't happy with it, but since she insisted, I agreed. Now that I've given my consent, why does she back out Does she think everything can go her way Tell her she must marry him whether he lives or dies; no marriage is not an option," Yun Qianmo said clearly.

"Miss, isn't it good that the eldest Miss won't agree to the marriage then You…" Cloud Meng stared at Yun Qianmo in disbelief.

"Just tell her what I said." Yun Qianmo waved dismissively.

Cloud Meng nodded and left without further comment, puzzled.

Yun Qianmo rubbed her forehead, turned around, and sat back down on the couch. As soon as she settled, someone slipped in silently through the window to stand before her. She put down her hand and looked at the person, "What method did you use to make Yun Xianghe refuse to marry"

The third son smiled, revealing his teeth: "That woman backed off upon seeing my appearance. With a little push from me, she decided never to marry." Finished speaking, he swished up his robe and sat beside Yun Qianmo, saying in an irritated voice, "I really wonder if you two are sisters; how far apart are you"

Yun Qianmo thought for a moment and looked at the third son without revealing her emotions: "In what way do we differ so much"

"We differ in every aspect! Judging someone by their looks, stubborn, foolish, and fawning on those above them—thinking they're better than others," said the third son after looking over at Yun Qianmo. He stated seriously: "Not a single resemblance! Especially not her appearance."

Yun Qianmo hid her thoughts, tugged at the corner of her mouth, and smiled faintly: "Yun Xianghe is Commander Feng's granddaughter, relying on his favor and side consort’s influence to bully others since childhood; it's no wonder she acts this way."

"If it were only about being spoiled by such favors, that would be acceptable. But not knowing one’s own limits, acting foolishly without self-awareness is the real problem!" The third son stretched out his hand to remove his mask, revealing a naturally alluring face: "Just now you said she should die if necessary to marry me Such women are definitely not my type," he remarked.

"You can rest assured that she won't be able to marry you. She will soon go to my grandfather, but he won’t pay attention to her. Then she’ll find my father king, who has already grown tired of her repeated antics and won’t listen to her either. As a last resort, she'll seek out General Feng; once she begs enough, he may ask the Duke of De to revoke his promise as matchmaker. The Duke of De will then approach King Xiao for help, and when that fails, Emperor Wen will have to devise another plan." Yun Qianyue reached into Third Young Master’s hand to take a look at the mask he was wearing and suddenly narrowed her eyes. "Where did you get this mask from"

"This is the mask I’ve been wearing all along; I told you that more than ten years ago, someone gave me both the mask and taught me martial arts," Third Young Master said as he glanced at Yun Qianyue’s expression and then looked again at his mask. "What's wrong Is there a problem"

Yun Qianyue looked at Third Young Master and handed him the two masks that Ye Qian had brought with her. "Look, are these three masks made by the same person"

Third Young Master reached out to take them. One of the masks was a stranger's while the other belonged to Yun Muhuan. Though they were made from different materials, the craftsmanship was identical. He looked at Yun Qianyue in astonishment and asked, "Where did you get these two"

Yun Qianyue slowly recounted today’s events to him. Then she said, “This is one of Night Tianqiong's masks that Ye Qian brought with her. But it isn’t certain whether the mask in her hand was his or not; after all, a single person wouldn't have been able to pull off switching things around at both the Crown Prince’s residence and the Cloud王府.”

Third Young Master nodded.

Yun Qianyue reached into her bosom, took out the two notebooks left behind by Feng Jin, and handed them to Third Young Master. She then walked over to the bed and tapped lightly on one of its middle planks; a jade plaque fell from it with a gentle clink. After holding the plaque up to weigh it in her hand, she said to him, “This is the Wind Pavilion’s Wind Cloud Order. You can take this to Drunken Fragrance Tower room number 1 and someone will guide you to the Wind Pavilion. From now on, I’m handing over control of the Wind Pavilion to you; learn everything about the Wind Pavilion as quickly as possible.”

Third Young Master looked at Yun Qianyue with a raised eyebrow. "The famous Wind Pavilion that’s moved by Red Ink You’re giving it to me like this"

"Otherwise, should I wash my hands and light incense for an exchange ceremony" Yun Qianyue asked him with a smile.

Third Young Master reached out his hand to take the plaque. "You have so much faith in me"

"There are few people who I trust in this world. Do you feel honored No need!" Yun Qianyue walked over to the table, poured herself a cup of tea and handed it to Third Young Master. Seeing that he was just looking at her without taking it, she placed the teacup in his hand before turning around to pour herself another one; she then lightly tapped hers against his, causing them both to make a clear sound. Smiling, she said, "I promise you: someday I’ll find you a good wife—definitely not someone like Yun Xianghe!"

Third Young Master’s face darkened.

Yun Qianyue took a sip of her tea and set the cup down; reaching into her bosom, she handed him the drawing of Purple Bamboo Grove that she had done herself. "Put this in King Xiao’s study on his desk; make sure no one realizes it was you."

Third Young Master looked at Yun Qianyue with a puzzled expression and took the picture to unroll, raising an eyebrow. “What is this”

"It's said that a hundred years ago, Prince Rong painted a Purple Bamboo Grove picture for Queen Zhenjing; after she died, it was buried alongside her in the imperial mausoleum," Yun Qianyue replied casually.

Third Young Master’s expression darkened as he thought about this. He lifted the scroll and asked, "Is this the painting"

"Of course not!" Yun Qianyue smiled. “But sometimes a fake can pass for real.”

“I see,” Third Young Master nodded. “What do you plan on doing with it”

“I want to see what King Xiao does!” Yun Qianyue looked out the window. "Does he hand this painting over to the old emperor, or hide it privately Or perhaps try to find something secret in the scroll; or maybe there's some other option. After living a long time, people inevitably accumulate secrets; we need to give him a trigger that will force his secret into the open—or have him reveal someone else’s.”

Third Young Master nodded and gripped the scroll tightly. “Rest assured, I’ll be able to place this scroll in his study without anyone noticing me.”

"Yes, I believe you can," Yun Qianyue said with a smile.

Third Young Master looked at the painting again and raised an eyebrow. "Where did you get this painting Does Prince Jing know about it"

“Probably; there’s nothing in the capital—or even the entire world—that he doesn’t know,” Yun Qianyue replied, her gaze carrying a hint of disdain. “He is Rong Wang’s successor.”

Suddenly, Third Young Master paused and looked at Yun Qianyue. "Do you have something on your mind"

"Who doesn't have something on their mind" Yun Qianyue replied dismissively as she said to him seriously, “From today onward, I’ll be handing over the Wind Pavilion to you; remember that from now on, you’re not just Third Young Master of King Xiao’s household but also master of the Wind Pavilion. All those who serve under the Wind Pavilion look to you for their lives’ sake; your actions must be careful and prudent. You must always consult with me before doing anything. It's not that I don’t trust you, it’s because if you make even one mistake, hundreds or thousands of people’s lives are at stake.”

"Alright!" The Third Young Master nodded solemnly.

"You need to familiarize yourself with the Wind Pavilion as soon as possible and take it over. Without my instructions, do not make any moves," Yun Qianyue reminded him again.

"Alright!" The Third Young Master nodded once more.

"The Wind Pavilion養有信使 (has couriers), find one that suits you to raise and use. Everyone in the Wind Pavilion raises a courier with its own number, and even每個人的信使都不一樣 (everyone's couriers are different). Once there is an error or if it gets hunted down, we can know immediately which環節或者哪個人出了錯 (which link or person made the mistake)." Yun Qianyue looked at The Third Young Master. "After you find a suitable courier, let me know and we'll use yours for our communications."

"Understood!" The Third Young Master nodded.

"It's getting late now! You should return home with the scroll tonight and place it in Duke Xiaoqin’s study. Then go back to your own residence and wait there. Duke Xiaoqin必定會為了雲香荷誓死不嫁之事去找你麻煩 (will surely cause trouble for you over Yun Xianghe’s refusal to marry). After dealing with him, head to Drunken Fragrance Tower," Yun Qianyue glanced at the sky and saw that the sun was setting in the west. She continued.

"Alright!" The Third Young Master stood up, tucking the map into his sleeve and putting on his mask again. Then he looked at the two remaining masks and asked, "What should I do with these two masks"

"If my guess is correct, Ye Qian must have some connection to someone your mother knows in Xiyan, or perhaps she even has a direct link to her. Such intricate masks are not something an ordinary person could make. After you take over the Wind Pavilion,派人查探一下這件事 (send people to investigate this matter)," Yun Qianyue looked at the two masks and took the mask of Yun Muhan from him. "But there’s no need to rush with this; it's important that nobody knows your身份 (identity)."

"Understood!" The Third Young Master nodded again, “Then I’ll be off!”

"Go then," Yun Qianyue waved her hand.

The Third Young Master lightly touched his toes to the ground and floated out of the window; in an instant, he was gone.

Yun Qianyue returned to sit on the soft couch. She thought about Ye Qian who couldn’t be underestimated—she dared to trade with Ye Tiansyi three years ago, now had some connection to Xiyan, and her mother was actually the younger sister of Southern Liang’s queen dowager. Now she was in Tiensheng, switching places with Yun Muhan. What was her ultimate purpose

"Miss Qianyue!" Yun Meng's voice came from outside once more.

"Speak," Yun Qianyue sat on the couch without getting up.

"The eldest Miss followed your advice and went to see Old Duke and the Duke. She has now left the residence in a carriage, likely heading for General Feng’s house." Yun Meng looked inside the room. "Miss seems crazy; old servant couldn’t stop her."

"It's okay, let her go," Yun Qianyue thought of The Third Young Master using minor tricks, which would seem like major moves to Yun Xianghe. She wanted Miss to act crazier.

"Old servant saw Cai Lian leave; the Ugly Aunt said you want to change your maids" Yun Meng asked again.

"Yes. Put up a notice today that I am seeking new maids with requirements as usual," Yun Qianyue ordered him.

"Alright, old servant will do it right away!" Yun Meng responded and turned to leave.

The room fell silent again. Yun Qianyue closed her eyes; Rong Jing’s words involuntarily floated into her mind. Whose weight is lighter Whose is heavier Could he possibly be just another person in her heart

"Stinky brat! You're acting like this again, did someone bully you" Nan Lingrui pushed open the door and walked in.

Yun Qianyue kept her eyes closed and replied lazily: "No."

"No I don’t believe that!" Nan Lingrui snorted lightly, coming over to Yun Qianyue and without courtesy lifted her eyelid with his hand.

Yun Qianyue slapped his hand away and glared at him. "Did you just return from Rong王府 (Palace) How was it Do you know that person"

"No idea!" Nan Lingrui shook his head.

"Don't recognize her" Cloud Qianyue raised an eyebrow.

"She's not from the Southern Liang at all, but rather from Western Yan." Nan Lingrui said.

The weariness in Cloud Qianyue vanished instantly, "How could that be Those people are all from the Southern Liang. Even if I made a mistake, wouldn't Rong Jing also make a mistake"

"He is indeed from the Southern Liang, but he was dispatched by Western Yan." Nan Lingrui snorted coldly, "Rong Jing isn’t a god; he’s human. Do you think in your eyes that he should know everything Smelly brat, you’ve praised him too much. Do you think he can hold the sky if it collapses on his head Is he supposed to be well-informed about every matter under heaven Let me tell you, there are many things he doesn’t know."

Cloud Qianyue was stunned and fell silent suddenly.

"Didn't you always distrust everyone since childhood Why do you believe in him now" Nan Lingrui glared at Cloud Qianyue, "Look how pitiful you are!"

"How did you know that person is from the Southern Liang but dispatched by Western Yan When you went there, didn’t he die already" Suppressing her suddenly surging emotions, Cloud Qianyue looked at Nan Lingrui.

"There’s a palace seal on his body; it's an undercover agent of Western Yan. You can't be unaware of the palace seal, right It symbolizes lifelong loyalty to Western Yan and never betraying them." Nan Lingrui said.

Qing Ying is Rong Jing’s undercover agent; he wouldn’t not investigate someone’s background like this," Cloud Qianyue raised an eyebrow.

Nan Lingrui snorted, "Do you know where that person's palace seal was carved What kind of master breeds what kind of servant. Rong Jing’s people are as noble and aloof as him; they would never look at a man's private parts. So naturally, he wouldn’t know."

"So it's like this!" Cloud Qianyue nodded. Though Rong Jing appeared gentle, the nobility in his soul was innate, something no one could erase. His subordinates were also influenced by his character; not just Qing Ying, but also Xiang Ge, Qing Shang, Qing Quan, even a bird named Qing Ti shared this trait. She frowned, "What about those who tried to assassinate Yun Muhuan and got killed by me Are they all from Western Yan"

"Those people are now in Ye Tianyi's hands; I haven’t looked into them myself, so it’s hard to make a judgment." Nan Lingrui said: "If they were all from Western Yan, it means that someone there knew about this matter and wanted to warn Yun Muhuan or perhaps for some other purpose. If those people are Southern Liang's, it suggests the leader is a Western Yan spy infiltrated into the Southern Liang and instructed by them. That person might be the Imperial Tutor or others. But regardless of what happened, it shows that Western Yan also knew about this."

Cloud Qianyue nodded.

"In recent years, Western Yan has been following Southern Liang's lead, but you must understand how things are behind the scenes; they’re just each pursuing their own interests." Nan Lingrui sneered coldly, "A great country is vast and mighty while a small country is harmonious. It’s all about profit-seeking in the end. This world has already fragmented."

Cloud Qianyue took a deep breath, "Yun Muhuan was taken away by Ye Qian and replaced with Ye Tianqin; I sent Ye Tianqin back to the Crown Prince's mansion. Do you know about this"

"Hm!" Nan Lingrui nodded, his face darkening: "I just found out!"

"Do you understand what Ye Qian is trying to do" Cloud Qianyue looked at Nan Lingrui.

Nan Lingrui suddenly gave a mocking laugh, “That woman’s intentions are unpredictable. Only two people in the world could know what she wants to achieve. And I definitely don’t belong to those two.”

"Who" Cloud Qianyue raised her eyebrows.

“Little brat, do you really not know who it is It’s either Ye Tianyi or Rong Jing. Who else could it be” Nan Lingrui reached out to ruffle Cloud Qianyue's hair and said: "How come I never knew how stupid you were"

"There have been too many things happening recently; my brain can't keep up!" Cloud Qianyue pushed away Nan Lingrui’s hand.

"You must be pouring all your thoughts into dating and romance, right" Nan Lingrui snorted coldly: "What love potion did Rong Jing give you to make you daydream about marrying him so much that you don’t even know who you are anymore"

“I’m thinking about marrying him every day” Cloud Qianyue looked at Nan Lingrui.

"Is it not true Your face clearly shows your intention to marry him." Suddenly, Nan Lingrui grabbed Cloud Qianyue and pulled her in front of the mirror. He said: "Look at yourself! Take a good look; am I wrong"

Cloud Qianyue looked into the mirror. Her face was like a peach blossom, eyebrows like willow leaves, skin as fair as spring snow, teeth white and lips red. A hint of spring bloom colored her brows, concealing distant mountain hues beneath it. Three parts sorrow, three parts warmth, three parts helplessness, one part entanglement. She frowned; the person in the mirror frowning too. She pulled at the corners of her mouth; the reflection did the same. As she reached out to rest her forehead, a large hand covered her face first.

"Brat, put on a proper face!" Nan Lingrui looked at Yun Qianyue with anger. "You are disgracing both me and your mother!"

Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes. She opened Nan Lingrui's hand and said sarcastically while also feeling amused, "I'm just being myself; how can I disgrace you and Mom"

"Anyone who falls in love is a fool! Now you look like a fool too. What nonsense are you spouting about someone being heavier than the entire world Loving him more than yourself Let me tell you, you should only love yourself more than anyone else. Otherwise, when Rong Jing discards you one day, do you plan to bang your head against the Purple Bamboo Grove" Nan Lingrui said in a low voice.

"Brother! Rong Jing will never abandon me." Yun Qianyue sighed.

"There’s no such thing as absolute certainty in this world; don’t speak nonsense," Nan Lingrui suddenly turned and looked out the window. "In the past, there was also someone who told me to marry her for life. She said she wouldn’t marry anyone else but me. What happened later In the end, she ran off with another man and stayed away from him for years. Now she’s plotting all sorts of schemes, including involving me."

Yun Qianyue suddenly stopped talking; she knew he was referring to Ye Qian.

"You can let everything else go a hundred percent, but never your emotions. Even if you can't control them completely, leave at least three parts behind or even just one part. Brat, do you understand" Nan Lingrui turned and stared fixedly at Yun Qianyue.

Yun Qianyue suddenly smiled faintly; she looked seriously at Nan Lingrui. "Don’t worry! Even if I want to pour my heart out completely, I can't do it. Though I don't leave anything behind on purpose, I can never forget him even when trying to. Perhaps he will stay with me for the rest of my life or until I lose all memory." After saying that, she took a deep breath and continued, "There’s an emotion buried in my heart, unrelated to Rong Jing, others, not even myself, existing independently." Nan Lingrui was taken aback; he looked at Yun Qianyue with confusion. “What do you mean”

Yun Qianyue repressed all her emotions and tidied up Nan Lingrui’s shirt collar. "Don’t ask anything! It won’t affect anything! As for Ye Qian taking away Yun Muhuan, what do you think should be done"

"What are you afraid of At worst it will become public knowledge. Besides, since there is a purpose behind her actions, she must have something to gain. You just wait and see! Ye Qian will come looking for you sooner or later; if not, she’ll look for Rong Jing." Nan Lingrui said indifferently: "Whether she’s from the Southern Liang or Western Yan, she has a goal in mind. As long as there’s something to gain, every matter revolves around this desire. You are both passive and active in this situation; you decide whether to give her firewood for fuel."

"You’re right!" Yun Qianyue suddenly smiled and praised Nan Lingrui: "It seems that all these years as the Crown Prince weren’t wasted."

“If my brother were a fool, he would be dead by now!” Nan Lingrui snorted. He raised his hand to tap Yun Qianyue’s head but she dodged and he retracted his hand. “The Imperial Tutor sent me a message just now; he came to pay tribute to the old emperor and is currently leaving Southern Liang, I’ll go meet him. I won’t be in the capital for these few days.” He then put a feather into Yun Qianyue’s hands. "If you have anything important to tell me, hang this feather on your eaves and someone will come find you."

"This method is good!" Yun Qianyue accepted the feather with a smile; it looked like an ordinary feather.

Nan Lingrui didn’t speak anymore. He walked out of the room, his toes lightly touching the ground before he disappeared from sight.

Yun Qianyue watched as Nan Lingrui left and placed the feather in her bosom. She noticed that it was completely dark outside already. She called for Mother Zhao to bring supper; after eating, she lay down on her bed, mentally going through what had happened over these two days before closing her eyes.

Before long, a familiar flute sound came from the west wall and floated in through the window straight into her ears. Yun Qianyue sighed, pulling up her quilt to cover her ears.

The flute music didn’t stop after one piece but continued playing with the same melody.

Just as Yun Qianyue was about to cover her ears again, a distant sound of the guqin suddenly came into earshot. The guqin sound was light and faint; although it wasn’t as clear and resounding as the flute music, it caught her attention immediately. She dropped her hand and opened her eyes, sitting up straight on the bed.

Only Nie Tianyi could play Longing for You and only Rong Jing could play The Pledge of Eternity!
