Chapter 47
ers, but not her. In her heart, she silently repeated that from now on, she was no longer Li Yun, but Yun Qianyue. From now on, she must forget the name of Li Yun as quickly as possible; otherwise, on...Chapter 47
Yun Qianyue came to the kitchen, and that small kitchen was empty. Not only were there no people, but even the pots on the stove had disappeared. The only thing left was a lingering aroma of fish and porridge, clearly indicating that the porridge and fish she had eaten earlier must have come from here. She walked up to the stove and saw traces of a pot being recently removed from it. Grinding her teeth in frustration, Yun Qianyue thought that String Song truly lived up to his reputation as someone close to Rong Jing—always taking precautions beforehand. With no trace of fish or anyone left in the small kitchen now, she was even more annoyed and turned around, leaving the kitchen.
Standing in the courtyard, Yun Qianyue pursed her lips and slowly let out some internal energy from her dantian to explore. She discovered that apart from Rong Jing eating fish in the main room of the west wing, there was no one else around. It was clear that String Song had taken off with the person who cooked the fish long ago. After retracting her energy, she already felt sweat rolling down her forehead. Realizing what String Song said was true—letting out internal energy to explore indeed damaged her abilities—she decided not to use this method anymore.
Looking up at Rong Jing sitting in the room and elegantly enjoying his fish, with a refined and elegant silhouette visible through the window, Yun Qianyue suddenly felt it was too unfair for her to be upset all day long. No matter what, she couldn't let the culprit feel victorious. With this thought, she took a step forward and re-entered Rong Jing's room.
"Why did you come back Did you eat so much that you can't sleep" Rong Jing looked up at Yun Qianyue.
Yun Qianyue pushed aside the curtain, walked briskly to Rong Jing's side and looked down at him. "Tell me where String Song and the person who made the lotus root fish have gone! Tell me their whereabouts or I won't let you off easy."
Rong Jing put down his chopsticks, sighed helplessly, and said gently to Yun Qianyue, "Why are you still acting like a child Keeping that cook around is so she can make more fish for us in the future. How could I let you find her out String Song was afraid you would come looking for him to practice martial arts, so he naturally stayed away. You probably won't see him for days."
"Indeed it was all planned!" Yun Qianyue muttered and leaned close to Rong Jing, reaching out to grab his clothes.
Rong Jing sat still, watching her silently.
Yun Qianyue's hand returned without touching him; she originally thought searching through his things would be fine, but then realized it was inappropriate to touch a man. She only glared at him and looked directly at the jade pendant hanging on his waist—the translucent white gemstone appeared priceless. Without further hesitation, she reached out to grab the jade pendant, "Give this to me!"
"You want this" Rong Jing raised an eyebrow.
"Yes! Give it to me," Yun Qianyue stared at him with great determination.
Rong Jing's kind gaze turned slightly darker. Looking deeply into her small, frowning face, he smiled softly and said, "How can I take this off if you're grabbing onto me"
He was going to give it to her Yun Qianyue was a bit stunned. So easily
Rong Jing's delicate fingers lightly lifted the jade pendant from his waist and placed it in her hand, saying casually, "Since you want it, I'll just give it to you."
"It’s not fake, right" Yun Qianyue held the jade pendant up to the light.
"Of course not. How could a fake item touch me" Rong Jing no longer looked at her and picked up his tea cup, sipping from it.
Considering how good it felt, Yun Qianyue knew it couldn't be fake—she wouldn't have passed her appraisal on ancient artifacts and jewelry if she hadn’t known. Without further hesitation, she tucked the jade pendant into her clothes and turned to leave.
"Leaving already" Rong Jing asked again.
Nonsense! If she didn't leave now, was she waiting for him to take back the jade pendant Yun Qianyue turned around and glared at him.
"Then you should go rest early tonight. We'll visit Nanshan tomorrow to see the Magnolia Grandiflora," Rong Jing said.
"I'm not going!" Yun Qianyue pushed aside the curtain and stepped out of the room.
"The most famous thing about Nanshan is not the Magnolia Grandiflora, but the Orchid Wine made from it. Ten years ago, I met Master Ling Yin by chance and after a game of go, we brewed a barrel of Orchid Wine together. We agreed to share this wine when we had another opportunity in the future. Who would have thought that this barrel has been buried for ten years While burying it for ten years isn't rare, what is unique about this particular barrel is our brewing method—it uses combined martial arts power and over a dozen precious herbs. Such Orchid Wine has never existed before or since; priceless and irreplaceable—nobody not even the emperor could have access to it. Are you sure you don't want to go" Rong Jing's voice followed Yun Qianyue as she left.
"I am going! Who said I wasn’t You’ll see me tomorrow," Yun Qianyue immediately retracted her previous refusal.
"Alright!" Rong Jing replied happily.
Yun Qianyue didn't turn back, and without further words, left the room of the west wing.
Not long after she had left, String Song entered the room. Looking at Rong Jing, he said disapprovingly, "Young Master, how could you give Miss Yun Qianyue your jade pendant It's your unique symbol of identity. Moreover…"
"String Song!" Rong Jing interrupted him with a cold tone.
String Song immediately stopped speaking.
Rong Jing looked out the window, where Yun Qianyue was long gone. A ray of moonlight shone directly into the room and formed a circle around him as he stood quietly staring at it for a while before saying softly, "Father and Mother have been gone for ten years."
"Yes…" String Song lowered his head.
Rong Jing remained silent; so did String Song. The room was quiet with a faint atmosphere of darkness.
After some time, Rong Jing rubbed his forehead lightly and shook his head as if amused, "How long has it been since anyone dared to touch my things"
String Song looked at Rong Jing thoughtfully. The young master was so highborn that many ladies in the capital could only admire him from afar. No one dared to come close to him, let alone touch his belongings. Who would dare to offend such a man Only Miss Yun Qianyue seemed bold enough.
"It's just a jade pendant, an external thing. If she wants it, give it to her," Rong Jing looked down at the empty place on his waist where the pendant used to be. It was the only accessory he wore; he was sure that if there had been anything else today, Yun Qianyue would have taken it too. He smiled helplessly and changed the subject, "Has Night Qingran left"
"Young Master, when His Imperial Majesty's order arrived, Prince Xiao left immediately. The emperor urged him to leave quickly because a matter at the Military Affairs Office is serious. He couldn't delay his departure. Even though he wanted to bid farewell to Miss Yun Qianyue, he just sent his attendant to let her know that she was in your room when it happened," String Song replied.
"Is there anything unusual about me sending Prince Xiao away" Rong Jing raised an eyebrow.
String Song was surprised and answered, "Doesn't everyone think you did it"
Rong Jing shook his head. "I only sent a letter to Mr. Yun asking him not to let Qingran come back. If he hadn’t been ordered away, Qingran would have still stayed away from her anyway. The coincidence is that something happened at the Military Affairs Office just as my letter arrived. So what There's nothing special about it," Rong Jing explained without looking at String Song.
String Song was puzzled. "If you didn’t do it, who did"
"There are people with reasons to want Qingran out of the way," Rong Jing replied calmly.
The room fell silent again.
"Young Master…" String Song hesitated but then continued, "Doesn’t this mean that you are becoming more approachable"
Rong Jing turned to look at him. “Isn't it better to be kinder If I am, she will feel less pressure around me.”
"It turns out it was Prince Taizi's actions in the War Office Camp!" Xiange suddenly understood. He also felt that recently, Prince Taizi had changed his opinion of Miss Shanyue; instead of looking at her with disdain as he used to, he now seemed to follow after her.
However, Miss Shanyue was different. She avoided the prince when she saw him like she always did.
Xiange didn't understand this. Wasn't Miss Shanyue just a speck of dust How could she be compared to the moon
The thoughts in his mind came out as a murmur, "Young Master, I think Miss Shanyue hasn't changed at all; instead, she's become even more crude and reckless. Where is the image of the moon in her"
"Yes, she has grown worse recently. But have you thought about why Prince Niyitian suddenly changed his attitude towards her" Rong Jing didn’t turn around but asked with a smile.
"It's all because Young Master and Xian Wang You Meng joined hands to protect Miss Shanyue in the palace, making Prince Taizi look at her differently. If you hadn't intervened that day, she would have been thrown into prison by the prince," Xiange immediately responded.
"But have you thought about how many women can remain calm when faced with a hundred of Prince Niyitian's secret guards pointing their swords and knives at them And how many could maintain composure after seeing Prince Nie Qiran release blood-colored vipers to attack people How many would willingly go to prison under the threat from both princes, and how many can think through such tense situations and realize that if they were attacked by Niyitian or Nie Qiran, she wouldn't just face a fire in Wanting Spring Tower but also the calamity of causing discord between royal brothers" Rong Jing asked him a series of questions.
Xiange was speechless. He had hidden in the shadows on that day and clearly saw Miss Shanyue's calmness and indifference. She didn't even blink when faced with danger. Although he admired her, he thought she relied on the favor from Old King Yun to feel confident enough not to be afraid.
Now that Young Master pointed it out like this, Xiange realized Miss Shanyue was too calm back then.
"She… hmm, is a mystery." Rong Jing concluded.
Xiange remembered Yun Shanyue's mocking expression when she talked about Lingtai Temple today. He felt that the Young Master made sense; this Miss Shanyue was indeed enigmatic. However, her crude and vulgar behavior as a wastrel was undeniably true. With a pout, he said, "Young Master probably overestimates Miss Shanyue. In my opinion, she just eats and sleeps."
"Eating and sleeping also require certain abilities." Rong Jing turned to look at Xiange with a serious tone, "Xian Ge, after so long by me side, do you still think superficially I’ve told you many times that one needs to see the essence of people. You are still too narrow-minded."
Xiange felt wronged and lowered his voice, "I seriously looked at Miss Shanyue. Yet, she reveals nothing but vulgarity and wastrel behavior, not to mention her nonsensical talk about nuns in Lingtai Temple or monks marrying. Do you think that's what a lady from an aristocratic family would say"
Rong Jing suddenly smiled, "Is that really what she said"
"Yes!" Xiange nodded firmly.
"Maybe she’s right! There is no certainty in this world. What seems certain now may change in the future. Prince Niyitian probably never imagined he would look at someone following him, and Yun Shanyue certainly didn’t think she’d find looking at Prince Niyitian disgusting one day. I also hadn't anticipated that ten years later my first act outside the estate would be rescuing her from prison. But it happened."
Xiange was still puzzled about how Young Master knew about Prince Taizi’s intention to arrest Miss Shanyue in the palace and why he had rescued her.
"Young Master, you saw Miss Shanyue that day when entering the palace"
"Yes." Rong Jing nodded with a smile.
"Didn’t Prince Si see Young Master too" Xian Ge asked. Then he realized that if Young Master didn't want to be seen by others, no one would notice him. So, he quickly changed his question: "What did you see Why was it necessary for you to rescue Miss Shanyue And why is the emperor’s attitude so strange You shouldn’t have been involved in rescuing her because the emperor has always kept an eye on Yun Estate and Miss Shanyue. Your action could put you under suspicion."
"I saw her puzzled and a girl continuously kneeling," Rong Jing smiled slightly, "Even if I hadn’t intervened then, these years the emperor has watched me closely anyway. Whether or not I act makes no difference to him now. But I’ve never regretted saving her."
Xiange was speechless. Miss Shanyue truly had good fortune to be saved by Young Master simply because she was confused.
Rong Jing looked out the window again, pointing at the sky and asking Xian Ge to come over: "Look up at the sky, what do you see"
"A bright moon and stars everywhere," Xiange hurriedly answered.
"The moon isn’t her now but who knows if it will be in the future Was the moon full from the start It was hidden by darkness, then became a crescent, half-moon, and finally full again. Now it shines brightly, illuminating everything below. Can you say that when the moon is hidden by darkness, it isn’t still the moon Or can you say that when it’s just a crescent, it no longer exists as the moon Only a full moon is considered the bright moon" Rong Jing asked.
Xian Ge was shocked to hear this and immediately bowed his head respectfully: "Young Master enlightens me! I’m foolish."
"As long as you understand," Rong Jing nodded in approval, his voice low, "I look forward to the day when she…"
Xian Ge understood what he was hinting at. He suddenly felt excited too. Trusting Young Master’s insight, he believed that one day Miss Shanyue would emerge from obscurity like a bright moon, shining brightly and illuminating everything around her.
Although the idea seemed far-fetched now, it wasn’t impossible to imagine such a change in the future.
"Go to sleep. We go to Nanshan tomorrow." Rong Jing said as he left the window.
"Yes," Xian Ge bowed and backed away.
Rong Jing walked past the soft bed, noticing that Yun Shanyue had left a book upside down on it. Remembering her previous admiration for the book, he couldn't help but smile before lying down himself and turning off the lights.
The courtyard was quiet with a gentle breeze.
In the east wing, however, it was lively.
When Yun Shanyue returned with the jade pendant, Cailian and others rushed to greet her. Their eyes sparkled as they looked at her, eager for news of what happened in the palace.
"Miss, did you enjoy the fish" Cailian asked eagerly.
"Yes," Yun Shanyue replied without stopping.
Cailian followed her into the room: "I knew Lord Jing’s fish would be delicious. If it wasn’t good, Miss wouldn't have stayed so long."
Yun Shanyue hummed in agreement, remembering that she had only eaten half a fish before being angry.
"The Prince's servant came to tell us that he has official business and must leave immediately. He couldn’t accompany Miss tomorrow," Cailian informed her.
"I understand." Yun Shanyue thought he wouldn't come even if he hadn’t left for work.
Cailian then asked: "Will Miss still go to Nanshan"
“Of course,” Yun Shanyue replied.
“That’s great. The wishing tree and the blessings tree are in Nanshan, so you can make wishes there tomorrow," Cailian said happily.
"Hmph. With Rongjing around, no wish will come true," Yun Shanyue snorted coldly.
Cailian was surprised: "Lord Jing is going too He usually spends these three days discussing with the abbot."
Yun Shanyue yawned: "He won’t discuss today. He’s digging for wine in Nanshan." She was sleepy again after napping half a day, realizing how exhausting it was to be around Rongjing.
"It seems the Prince of Jing knows that the Young Duke Ran broke his appointment with Miss, and he's probably afraid you'll go alone if he doesn't accompany you. The Prince of Jing gave up accompanying Master Lingyin to be with you; he is truly very kind to Miss," Cai Lian immediately said happily.
"If you knew that he was worried about me causing trouble again and wanted to keep an eye on me every moment, would you still think he treats me well" Yun Qianmo glanced at Cai Lian.
"Miss, you're biased against the Prince of Jing. You almost set fire to Fragrant Spring Mountain today when you went back mountain with Young Duke Ran to grill fish; that was too reckless. If anything happened today, you'd have been locked up in jail by the Emperor. He's accompanying you because he cares about your safety. Others would be glad if the Prince of Jing stayed with them!" Cai Lian reproached Yun Qianmo.
Yun Qianmo thought that Rong Jing must have given this little maidservant some benefit, since she was always defending him. She didn’t want to talk anymore and waved her hand dismissively, "Fine, he's good enough then It’s me who can't appreciate it. Go away now, I'm going to sleep."
"Then Miss, please rest well tonight! I'll wake you up early tomorrow," Cai Lian said immediately.
"Don’t bother waking me up; when the time comes, I’ll naturally get up on my own." Yun Qianmo walked towards her bed.
Cai Lian knew Miss’s temper well; as long as Miss didn't wake up herself, she probably wouldn’t be able to rouse her even if she tried. She could only blow out the candle and leave the room with the door closed behind her.
Yun Qianmo lay down on her bed; although she was very tired, a scene from earlier that evening suddenly came to mind—the way Nightray danced gracefully across the lotus leaves in Fragrant Spring Water while catching fish. The green mountains and waterfalls were set against clear spring water; ancient temples and pavilions were dotted around half-lotuses blooming brightly. A beautiful person amidst a scenic setting, his graceful body posture as he held up the fat fish—his spirited demeanor shone through every detail of the picture. Such a scene was too exquisite to be forgotten. She couldn’t help but make two sounds of approval and suddenly sat up out from under her blankets. She would draw it right now; otherwise she might forget in a few days’ time. With such an incredible view, how could one bear to miss capturing it on paper
Thinking this, Yun Qianmo quickly put on a robe and walked over to the table by the window where she relit the candle.
"Miss What's wrong" Cai Lian hadn’t left yet; seeing that Yun Qianmo had lit her room’s candles again, she immediately asked.
"Nothing. Go back and sleep," Yun Qianmo glanced at the ink, brush, paper, and inkstone on her table as she spoke to those outside the room.
"Yes, Miss, then please rest well tonight." Cai Lian yawned; she had been so excited about coming here yesterday that she hadn’t slept much. After playing all day today, she was exhausted now. Seeing Yun Qianmo didn’t need her to stay up with her, she turned around and went back to bed.
Yun Qianmo began grinding ink; her movements were smooth and quick—soon the ink in the stone mortar was evenly mixed, even better than Cai Lian could make. She laid out a sheet of xuan paper and picked up her brush, thinking for a moment before starting to draw.
Her strokes were like dragons or snakes; she moved lightly with the grace of the wind—her lines, outlines, sketches, dark ink and light colors all flowed together in an unbroken stream. In no time at all, she finished her picture of a beautiful woman amidst scenic surroundings. The green mountains, clear springs, waterfalls, ancient temples, pavilions, half-lotuses, the gorgeously dressed man with his elegant posture standing on lotus leaves and dancing lightly over the river—all this was captured without any pause in the ink flow. Anyone who saw it would be hard pressed to find fault with such a perfect work of art.
Yun Qianmo nodded approvingly, put down her brush, and smiled happily. The anger she had felt for being stifled by Rong Jing and Xiang Ge finally dissipated; Nightray really did make her feel better, but alas he was already gone from the mountain.
Just as she was about to blow out the candle and walk back to the window, she thought of how beautiful it had been when he had killed fish later on. The mood seized her again, so she picked up her brush and quickly drew a picture of him killing fish over the river.
Yun Qianmo looked at both drawings; each was perfect in its own way, lifelike and vivid—she was satisfied this time around. She blew out the candle, walked back to her bed with light steps, and soon fell asleep.
The next night’s sleep was very refreshing; she woke up when the sun was high.
Yun Qianmo stretched luxuriously as she heard Cai Lian moving about outside. The little maidservant must have been waiting eagerly, but didn’t dare to wake her up. She immediately called out: "Cai Lian! What time is it"
"Miss, you finally woke up; it's already the fourth hour of the day," Cai Lian opened the door and came in right away.
"It’s still early!" Yun Qianmo felt wonderfully refreshed as she sat up and got out of bed. She started washing her face.
“Miss, it's still early! The Lady Yuling of Marquis Yao's family arrived very early this morning; she has been waiting for you in the main hall for an hour already. I wanted to wake you but that Miss Yuling said not to worry and wait until you woke up naturally. I thought if I called you, you would be unhappy, so I didn’t dare,” Cai Lian pouted.
"Huh What does she want" Yun Qianmo was surprised.
“Miss Yuling said that since Young Duke Ran has hurriedly left the mountain to deal with an urgent matter, there will be no one to accompany you. So she came here to keep you company and have a look around Fragrant Spring Mountain. She can also help take care of you. It would be rather boring for just one person," Cai Lian said.
“So it is,” Yun Qianmo frowned slightly. Would Yuling find being alone boring Didn’t she spend yesterday with Rong Linglan and Cong Shuli
"Miss, I think Miss Yuling is a fine person. That Second Lady of the Feng Family and the Imperial Princess of the Filial Piety Prince’s family bullied you openly and in secret all along, but Miss Yuling has always treated you nicely—sometimes even helping out on your behalf. Most of the noble ladies in town are like the second lady of the Rong Family and the imperial princess of the Cong Family; they bully and mock you while keeping their distance from you. But when it comes to this Miss Yuling, she is always smiling at you and speaks kindly," Cai Lian was busy getting Yun Qianmo ready for the day while saying all this.
"Hmm!" Yun Qianmo nodded. She remembered how nice Yuling had been when they left Rong Jing’s carriage yesterday; it made her smile—she seemed like an interesting person! The man himself was thoroughly unpleasant, but he did have someone who liked him, so that wasn’t surprising since no one knew about his bad side. Thinking this, she asked, "Did you tell her that the Prince of Jing will be accompanying me"
"Ah, I forgot that part; should we go and tell Miss Yuling right now To say that the Prince of Jing is with you, so there’s no need for her to keep company with you," Cai Lian was startled, immediately putting down what she was doing and getting ready to leave.
"No need. We’re all going out to have fun anyway, so let it be like that!" Yun Qianmo gave the desk a glance before speaking to her outside.
“Okay then! Miss, you should get more sleep,” Cai Lian yawned; she had been too excited about coming to Lingtai Temple yesterday and barely slept all night. After playing all day today, she was naturally tired out. Seeing Yun Qianmo didn’t need her there, she turned around and went back to bed.
Yun Qianmo ground some ink; as always, she did it quickly and skillfully, and the ink in the stone dish looked uniform in color—much better than what Cailian could do. She spread out a piece of rice paper and picked up her brush. After thinking for a moment, she started to draw.
The brush flowed like dragons and snakes; she moved lightly as if on the wind, outlining, describing, painting in dark and light shades—she completed it all in no time at all. Green mountains, clear springs, waterfalls, ancient temples, cool pavilions, half-blossomed lotus flowers, a man in fine clothes and belt with an elegant and bold posture standing on the lotus leaves, dancing lightly over the river, killing fish without any pause or hesitation in his painting—all these were done so well that no one would be able to find fault with them.
Yun Qianmo nodded approvingly, put down her brush, and smiled happily. The frustration she had felt towards Rong Jing and Xiang Ge was finally gone. Thinking about how Nightray really did make her feel better, but he was now gone from the mountain; it made her sigh.
When she wanted to blow out the candle and walk back to the window, she suddenly thought of how beautiful it had been when he killed fish later on. She started again with her brush, quickly finishing a drawing of him killing fish over the river.
Yun Qianmo looked at both drawings; each was perfect in its own way, lifelike and vivid—she was satisfied this time around. She blew out the candle, walked back to her bed with light steps, and soon fell asleep.

But every time this Miss Yuling greets you with a smile and speaks to you kindly," Cai Lian said as she continued to get Yun Qianmo ready.
"Hm!" Yun Qianmo nodded. She recalled how Yu Ning had been kind to her since they met yesterday, so it was natural for her to think highly of this girl. "Yu Ning"
“Miss, the prince regent probably wouldn’t be happy about that,” Cai Lian hurriedly said when she heard Yun Qianmo mention Rong Jing.
"I don't care if he's unhappy," Yun Qianmo snapped. "Anyway, we're going out to have fun; let’s go together!"
“But Miss...” Cai Lian didn’t know what else to say.
"Just do as I say and hurry up!" Yun Qianmo ordered her.
“Okay, Miss,” Cai Lian said meekly. She quickly finished getting Yun Qianmo ready and then hurried out of the room to tell Yu Ning they were coming.
A little later, Yun Qianmo walked towards the main hall with a quick step, followed closely by Cai Lian.
When she arrived at the front hall, there was indeed a young lady sitting inside. She wore an elegant pale-colored dress that matched her appearance perfectly, and she sat upright and composedly even when no one else was around. From afar, she looked like a delicate sketch in pastel colors.
“Miss Yuling, it’s nice of you to come,” Yun Qianmo greeted the young lady as she entered.
Yun Qianyue clicked her tongue in admiration, finding this beauty a feast for the eyes.
"Finally, Sister Moon has had enough sleep. I've been waiting impatiently." Jade Coagulation smiled as she stood up when she saw Yun Qianyue arrive. Although there was a hint of reproach in her voice, it didn't seem she was truly annoyed by the wait.
"I didn't know Little Sister wanted to find me for fun; I overslept and woke up late." Yun Qianyue didn't enter the room but waved at Jade Coagulation instead. "Let's go! We'll look for that weakling beauty."
"Weakling beauty" Jade Coagulation stepped out of the room, confused as she looked at Yun Qianyue.
"That's Rong Jing!" Yun Qianyue said irritably. "He says he needs to monitor me today and not let me cause trouble according to what my grandfather told him. That annoying guy! It's a good thing you came, otherwise I'd have to look at his face all day long! Just thinking about it makes me lose my appetite!"
"Haha, so Sister Moon is talking about Young Master Jing!" Jade Coagulation was surprised for a moment but then covered her mouth with laughter. Upon seeing Yun Qianyue's annoyed expression, she laughed even more innocently. "You and Crown Prince Dye were too rowdy yesterday; how could you burn fish in Scented Spring Mountain Especially on such an auspicious day! If you had really burned the mountain down, it would have angered both gods and people, leading Emperor to blame you as well. Grandpa Yun was only trying to keep you safe. And Young Master Jing has no choice but to watch over you. Sister Moon thinks she's bored, but perhaps Young Master Jing is even more bored than you!"
Is it saying that Rong Jing finds her more annoying than she finds him Great! This woman really hurts me! Yun Qianyue was speechless.
"Young Master Jing and Venerable Ling Yin's thousand-year Dharma discussion is a rare event. It's an era of peace, and if Young Master Jing decides to look after Sister Moon, accompanying her to bathe in Buddha's light would be a blessing indeed. I heard yesterday that you two were too rowdy on Scented Spring Mountain; it’s fortunate you’re not alone today. If Crown Prince Dye hadn’t come down the mountain and couldn't accompany you, I was worried about your loneliness, so I decided to stay with you instead of listening to Buddha's teachings. Now Young Master Jing is taking Sister Moon there, which is perfect! Honestly, I still want to listen to Buddha’s preaching."
Yun Qianyue looked at Jade Coagulation's beautiful smile and didn't wish to disappoint her, but disappointing others wasn’t in her nature. She turned her head slightly: "I’m afraid you won't be able to listen today because Rong Jing isn’t going to discuss Dharma with Venerable Ling Yin."
"Young Master Jing isn't going to the Bodhidharma Hall for his thousand-year Dharma discussion" Jade Coagulation was surprised.
"Yesterday, I and Ye Qingran agreed to go south to see the Camellia. But that guy didn’t show up as planned, so Rong Jing said he would accompany me instead. I didn't want to go at first, but he promised to make Camellia wine for me, so I reluctantly agreed. Therefore, if you want to listen to Buddha’s teachings today, you’ll have to do it yourself."
"That's how it is!" Jade Coagulation suddenly lowered her head.
Yun Qianyue looked at her with a mix of amusement and confusion.
Jade Coagulation only hung her head for a moment before raising it again and smiling at Yun Qianyue. "Although I like listening to Buddha's teachings, without Young Master Jing and Venerable Ling Yin discussing Dharma together, there would be much less interest. Anyway, today, I'm planning to accompany Sister Moon all day long. With Young Master Jing around as well, it’s fine if he answers some of the Dharma questions I have from yesterday. Would Sister Moon mind me being here"
"Of course not! Let's go!" Yun Qianyue smiled at Jade Coagulation and laughed even more brightly than her. If there was such a beautiful woman around, might Rong Jing indulge in beauty’s favors and thus neglect his duty of monitoring her That would be ideal!
"Let's hurry to find Young Master Jing then! He must have been waiting for Sister Moon for a while." Jade Coagulation thought Yun Qianyue didn’t mind at all, remembering how lively she was talking with Ye Qingran yesterday and how irritable she was around Rong Jing. She felt relieved and walked more lightly.
"Let's go!" Yun Qianyue said nothing else but strode toward the west wing.
Jade Coagulation watched Yun Qianyue’s brisk steps, which were anything but a lady-like demeanor, and smiled faintly. She thought that Rong Jing, being such an extraordinary person, would surely despise this vulgar woman who only knew how to eat, drink, and play without understanding anything else. So it seemed her worries had been excessive after all. This thought made her even more at ease, and she felt closer to Yun Qianyue. She quickened her pace with a small step to catch up to Yun Qianyue, saying in a soft voice, "Sister Moon, you're walking too fast!"
"Really" Yun Qianyue turned around to look at Jade Coagulation and shook her head, speaking seriously: "It's not that I'm walking too fast; it’s that you’re walking too slow! Just like the weakling beauty, he always has a calm demeanor, neither hot nor cold. He looks so unbearable."
"Sister Moon is biased against Young Master Jing," Jade Coagulation shook her head and suddenly realized: "That's because Crown Prince Dye sets the bar high; he’s ever energetic and straightforward, which makes Sister Moon think that Young Master Jing is calm. But in my view, Crown Prince Dye isn’t as composed as Young Master Jing. It's just a matter of different personalities. Perhaps it’s because Sister Moon likes men like Crown Prince Dye that she doesn't appreciate Young Master Jing."
So you like Rong Jing-type men Yun Qianyue tilted her head and asked with a smile.
"Oh, what are you saying! I just think Young Master Jing is wonderful. Who in the capital wouldn’t praise him Sister Moon shouldn't joke around; it would make me too embarrassed." Jade Coagulation blushed immediately, lowered her head, yet her joy overcame her embarrassment.
Indeed, no matter how mature she might be, she was still just a little girl! Yun Qianyue waved dismissively. "Why are you blushing You like him if you do and dislike him if you don't! I simply like Ye Qingran and dislike Rong Jing. What's the issue"
"Sister Moon, it’s not proper for a girl to openly say she likes a man; people would laugh at her." Jade Coagulation lifted her head, still blushing but with a coquettish look. She stared at Yun Qianyue’s indifferent face and then said, "Since Sister Moon doesn’t mind me being here, I suppose it's fine. Today, I planned to accompany you all day anyway; since Young Master Jing is here too, I can also seek his advice on some of the Dharmic teachings I heard yesterday that I didn't understand." She paused and added hesitantly, "Sister Moon won’t mind me being around, will she"
"Of course not! Let’s go!" Yun Qianyue smiled at Jade Coagulation even more brightly than before. If there was such a beautiful woman, Rong Jing indulging in beauty might give her some breathing room and free him from the task of monitoring her. That would be ideal!
"Let's hurry to find Young Master Jing then! He must have been waiting for Sister Moon already." Jade Coagulation saw Yun Qianyue was not bothered at all, recalling how lively she talked with Ye Qingran yesterday and how irritable she was around Rong Jing. This thought made her even more at ease, so she walked faster.
"Let's go!" Yun Qianyue said no more and strode toward the west wing.

He must have been waiting for Sister Moon already.” Jade Coagulation saw Yun Qianyue was not bothered at all, recalling how lively she talked with Ye Qingran yesterday and how irritable she was around Rong Jing. This thought made her even more at ease, so she walked faster.
Yun Qianyue strode ahead without saying any more, leading the way towards the west wing yard where Rong Jing resided. As they approached his residence, Yun Qianyue paused and called out loudly for Rong Jing to come outside.
"Sister Moon, you shouldn't shout at Young Master Jing like that," Jade Coagulation immediately covered Yun Qianyue's mouth, looking worriedly around as if afraid someone might overhear them. But the yard was empty and silent save for their voices.
“Uh…” Yun Qianyue realized she had forgotten about her companion’s deep admiration for Rong Jing. She smiled awkwardly, pushed Jade Coagulation's hand away, winked at her, and pointed towards the main house where a figure was finally emerging.
Jade Coagulation lowered her hands and turned to look in the direction Yun Qianyue indicated, spotting Rong Jing stepping out of his residence. He wore a pale moonlight-colored robe that fitted him perfectly, highlighting his slender yet imposing posture. His steps were light and graceful, exuding an air of noble elegance that made Jade Coagulation’s breath catch in her throat.
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes and muttered to herself, “This rotten peach tree!”
The sound was so soft that only Yun Qianyue could hear it. Rong Jing, however, suddenly paused mid-step, his gaze fixed on Yun Qianyue. He squinted slightly before relaxing again and approaching them with a calm demeanor.
Yun Qianyue thought to herself how sharp Rong Jing's hearing was. Though she hadn’t said anything wrong, her description of him as “rotten peach tree” still held true.
"Miss Jade, it’s an honor," Jade Coagulation greeted Rong Jing formally once he reached them, blushing deeply and bowing in a proper manner befitting a lady of high status.
“Alright then, let’s go,” Rong Jing nodded at Jade Coagulation before turning to Yun Qianyue. As he walked past her, his eyes lingered on hers for an instant, his voice warm as he spoke, “Although it's late May and most of the peach blossoms have faded elsewhere, there are still some blooming in the southern hills near this temple due to the cooler climate here. If you’re interested, we can take a look after our meeting.”
Before Yun Qianyue could respond, Jade Coagulation straightened up, her voice soft and pleasant as she said, “I see now! Sister Moon wanted to see not just the magnolia trees but also the peach blossoms!”
Yun Qianyue’s lips twitched in amusement. She looked at the sky with a sigh before nodding in agreement.
"Alright," she replied.
"Then let's hurry up and go!" Jade Ning affectionately held Yun Qianmo's hand and hurriedly followed behind Rong Jing.
The corner of Yun Qianmo's eye swept over Jade Ning's tender, blush-red face like rouge in a glance. She despised the slowly walking Rong Jing in front of her inwardly. This bastard is pretending! Only she could see through this guise and not be bewitched by it; how wise and formidable she was! Only Ye Qingran understood her.
"Young Master Jing, yesterday you spoke with Venerable Lingyin that 'Buddha' means enlightenment," Jade Ning listened half-understandingly but still did not fully comprehend. She wondered whether Young Master Jing could enlighten her a little more" The three of them walked for a few steps before she softly spoke.
Yun Qianmo thought this little girl was now trying to befriend them!
"Miss Qin, it's fine if you don't understand. There is no need to delve too deeply into it. Buddhist teachings require one to possess the nature of Buddha to attain enlightenment. If you can truly comprehend and see through it, then it would no longer be you," Rong Jing continued walking without stopping, his mild and gentle voice傳來,一句話就堵得玉秦凝說不出話來。
“Qianmo, you really can't sit still for a moment. It's difficult to follow Young Master Jing," Jade Ning looked back at Yun Qianmo and smiled as she covered her mouth. "If Little Prince Qingran were here, he would surely take you out to show off his lightness skills."
"That's right! If Ye Qingran was here, it wouldn't be so boring!" Yun Qianmo agreed wholeheartedly.
"Don't think about him. Prince Ye Qingran is busy with military affairs and probably doesn’t have time to drink water," Rong Jing glanced back at Yun Qianmo and said: "If you feel bored, we could go to the Dharma Hall where there are many people around. You wouldn’t be bored then. What do you think"
"No way!" Yun Qianmo immediately objected.
"Aren't you feeling bored now" Rong Jing asked.
"I felt bored before, but I don't anymore," Yun Qianmo didn’t blush at her contradictory statements and pragmatically replied.
"Good! As long as you're not feeling bored." Rong Jing answered with a short sound without further comment.
Yun Qianmo glared fiercely at his back, continuing to kick stones that made loud thuds against the ground.
Jade Ning found Yun Qianmo amusing and gently said: "So Moon Sister is afraid of hearing Buddhist chants No wonder you never visit the Dharma Hall. It's understandable; Moon Sister has always disliked learning things like poetry, calligraphy, painting, music, and needlework. You only enjoy martial arts and swordplay. Coming to Fragrant Spring Mountain must be quite a hardship for you."
"That's right! I didn’t want to come in the first place, but that old man at home forced me," Yun Qianmo said with a grim face.
"Grandfather Yun only wants what’s best for you. This is a rare event; bathing in Buddha’s light can bring blessings from Buddha and ensure peace throughout your life. Moon Sister should understand Grand Prince's painstaking efforts," Jade Ning spoke like someone knowledgeable about propriety.
"I've grown up without Buddha's protection too!" Yun Qianmo was unconvinced. She feared that after hearing the Buddhist chants, Buddha would consider her a demon. She waved her hand dismissively: "I don’t believe in this."
Jade Ning wanted to persuade her further but instead smiled and said: “Moon Sister doesn't have the nature of Buddha; it’s something she was born without, so there's nothing that can be done about it.” After speaking, she glanced at Rong Jing and asked: "Young Master Jing, is this correct"
"Mm," Rong Jing responded vaguely without showing any emotion.
Jade Ning became delighted when she saw that Rong Jing agreed with her.
Yun Qianmo pursed her lips; even if she didn’t have the nature of Buddha, what difference did it make She had very few illnesses from childhood to adulthood. Who said without the nature of Buddha one couldn't live in peace and tranquility But, her only major misfortune was coming here due to that time bomb; could this be related to not believing in Buddha Was Buddha intentionally punishing her by bringing her here Unlikely!
"I doubt you will feel bored today. Nanshan seems quite lively," Rong Jing commented.
“Hmm” Yun Qianmo, who had been thinking about whether coming to this place was related to Buddha, immediately lifted her head upon hearing him. She saw Ye Tianqing and Ye Tianyu walking out of the crossroads ahead. This time she didn’t see Rong Linglan or Leng Shuli. Seeing Ye Tianqing made Yun Qianmo wrinkle her nose in disgust; where did he keep appearing Her face immediately darkened, turning to walk back.
"Moon Sister Why are you walking back" Jade Ning naturally also saw Ye Tianqing and Ye Tianyu and asked when she noticed Yun Qianmo turning around.
"I forgot something. I’ll go get it. You guys can head ahead," Yun Qianmo waved her hand.
“The three people following us behind are your maids; why don’t you tell them to fetch what you forgot We’ve already come this far, there’s no need for you to personally return,” Jade Ning pointed out as she looked back at Cai Lian, Tingyu and Tingsnow who were trailing several paces behind.
“They won’t be able to find it!” Yun Qianmo shook her head.
"Your personal maids can't find it either" Jade Ning held on tight as she asked.
“Can’t find it,” Yun Qianmo shrugged her off.
"Miss, what did you forget I’ll go get it for you right away," Cai Lian and Tingyu and Tingsnow who had been paying attention to their surroundings heard that Yun Qianmo forgot something and hurried over immediately.
"Forget it... Oh, well, you won't find it anyway, so I'll go back myself!" Yun Qianyue's excuse was originally fabricated, and she couldn't remember what she had forgotten. She waved her hand irritably at Cai Lian and walked briskly back. Wondering why the little girl had such sharp ears.
"If that is the case, I will accompany you to get it," Rong Jing turned around and went back as well. "Then I'll also accompany your sister in searching!" Yu Ning said immediately.
Yun Qianyue didn't want to say more either. If they wanted to follow her back then let them come along, but at least she would not have to see Ye Tianqing.
"Young Master Jing, Sister Moon, Miss Qin, why did you two turn around and leave when you saw me and the Crown Prince" The voice of the Fourth Prince came from behind the trio as he quickly caught up after taking a few steps forward.
Rong Jing stopped in his tracks with an indifferent smile. "Qianyue forgot something she needs to retrieve, I'm here to see that she doesn't cause any more trouble on her grandpa Yun's behalf and so accompany her."
"I pay my respects to the Crown Prince and Fourth Prince!" Yu Ning turned around and gave a standard greeting for a lady of high status. With a smile at the Fourth Prince, she said, "Yes! From Sister Moon's look, it must be something important. That is why Young Master Jing and I are accompanying her to get it."
"Oh What could Sister Moon have that is so important Tell me." The Fourth Prince stopped Yun Qianyue as he spoke.
"A girl's private things, do you also want to know" Yun Qianyue arched an eyebrow in response.
The Fourth Prince suddenly smiled and looked at her stern face with a whistle. "I didn't expect that Sister Moon has become a woman too! I really did not notice it before. Alright then, since they are your private things, I will not ask about them. Let me accompany you to get them."
"No need! I can go myself and don’t need anyone's accompaniment." Yun Qianyue tried to push the Fourth Prince away with her hands.
“Looks like Sister Moon is indeed in a hurry; what she forgot must be important. Since that’s the case, we all will accompany you together then! Anyways, I and my younger brother have nothing else to do today. We were originally going to look for Young Master Jing and you at Northern Mountain's rear garden anyway. So it just happens to suit us.” Ye Tianqing slowly spoke up; he had heard someone report that Rong Jing, Yun Qianyue, and Yu Ning were going to Southern Mountain earlier. He was supposed to go to the Dharma Hall but changed his mind suddenly, not expecting to bump into Ye Tianyu right after leaving the courtyard. The two tacitly agreed to intercept them for a chance encounter, only to find that Yun Qianyue wanted to turn away as soon as she saw him—clearly showing her reluctance to see him. He frowned slightly but did not show it on his face.
"If so then let's go Crown Prince!" Rong Jing swept his sleeves lightly and made the gesture for them to proceed.
Ye Tianqing nodded, also without hesitating and took the lead in front.
"Forget it, last night I drew a couple of paintings out of whim and forgot to put them away. It's nothing big." Yun Qianyue saw that she couldn't shake off these sticky people so she said nonchalantly that there was no need for her to go back.
“Hmm The drawings by Sister Moon” Ye Tianyu immediately became interested upon hearing this.
"Since it's Sister Moon’s painting, then we should all have a look." Ye Tianqing also said.
"Sister Yu Ning didn't even know that Sister Moon could draw! I was just wondering about it too. Since there is still some time left in the day and you want to put away your paintings, let's go back together!" Yu Ning smiled as she spoke after a moment of surprise.
Yun Qianyue then remembered that this body’s owner apparently did not know how to draw. She felt her head get clouded over instantly and glanced at Rong Jing; seeing no response from him, she looked at Ye Tianqing, Ye Tianyu, and Yu Ning and said, "What painting am I supposed to be doing It's just random scribbles that won't dirty your eyes." After speaking, she urged Rong Jing forward, "Let’s go! Let’s go! I want to drink the orchid wine you buried ten years ago."
"Alright then. You can’t draw anything good anyway so it’s fine if we don’t look," Rong Jing nodded and turned around.
Yun Qianyue thought that this man said something she actually agreed with.
Ye Tianqing paused in his steps, tightening the hand in his sleeve as he smiled. "It seems father’s order for Mu Han to teach Sister Moon how to read was right; before, Sister Moon never touched those things but now she is learning herself. Since Mu Han is highly skilled at both literature and martial arts, it would definitely be taught well. It's no surprise that Sister Moon can draw too. If you’ve just started learning, then after you finish your lessons we'll all watch," he said.
Yun Qianyue pretended not to hear him. She felt absolutely nothing towards this person. She couldn't understand how the previous body's owner could like such a man before. Was it only because of his status Or was she destined to marry him What a load of nonsense!
"Haha, alright then, no need to look if that’s what you say. Young Master Jing is right, who knows how terrible your drawings are" Ye Tianyu laughed loudly as he glanced at the slightly dark but still smiling face of Ye Tianqing. He could tell from this little girl's actions that she was determined to cut ties with him for good. At first, he thought it was a strategy to make her look like she wanted to back away in order to lure him in later, but now it seemed like it wasn't the case. However, his dear Crown Prince brother appeared to be concerned about this little girl; well then, this would surely be fun!
"Sister Moon is incomparably intelligent and will definitely achieve great success with time," Yu Ning smiled awkwardly in her heart as she watched Rong Jing and Yun Qianyue obey each other's words. Was it really because the Old King of Cloud entrusted him to look after Yun Qianyue that he had to be so compliant Even when Yun Qianyue was being rude, did he not mind at all
"Of course! Who am I I just don’t want to learn anything. Wait and see, you’ll all regret underestimating me in the future!" Yun Qianyue glanced back at them with a sneer.
“Haha, Sister Moon is truly ambitious, we'll wait for it!” Ye Tianyu laughed heartily.
Ye Tianqing watched Yun Qianyue's haughty posture and couldn't help but smile. He saw her kicking pebbles as she walked with a swaying gait; the jade step pendant on her head swayed left and right, while the light silk in her arm fluttered back and forth, contrasting sharply against Yu Ning who was like an unchanging sculpture next to her. There wasn’t any feminine decorum at all, yet there was a kind of graceful beauty that she had. Wasn't it more attractive for him to see such a side of Yun Qianyue now instead of the previous formal and proper image Why hadn’t he noticed how beautiful and cute she actually is in this way before
Yun Qianyue felt irritable from the constant gaze following her, so she kicked even louder.
"I said don't walk like that. You'll hurt your feet if you keep going like this," Rong Jing warned Yun Qianyue with a wave of his sleeve and then turned around.
Yun Qianyue thought the man finally made some sense when he said those words.
Ye Tianqing stopped in his tracks, tightening his hand again as he smiled. "It seems father’s decision for Mu Han to teach Sister Moon how to read was right; before she never touched such things but now she is learning herself. Since Mu Han excels at both literature and martial arts, he must be teaching well. It's no surprise that she can draw too. "Ha, alright then we won't look. Young Master Jing is right, who knows how terrible your drawings are" Ye Tianyu laughed loudly, glancing at Ye Tianqing’s slightly dark but still smiling face. It seemed this little girl had made up her mind to end things with him for good. He originally thought it was a tactic to retreat in order to advance later on, but now he saw that wasn’t the case. However, his dear Crown Prince brother appeared concerned about this little girl; well then, this would surely be fun!
“Sister Moon is incredibly intelligent and will achieve great success with time,” Yu Ning smiled awkwardly as she watched Rong Jing and Yun Qianyue obey each other's words. “Looks like I can’t shake off these people, let’s just go back then,” Yun Qianyu thought irritably as she saw that there was no way to avoid them. She waved her hand at Rong Jing and said, “I’ll take care of it myself.”
Rong Jing didn’t say anything but nodded.
“Fine then,” Yun Qianyu said with a shrug, “it was just two drawings I did last night, nothing important. No need to come back for them.”
Night Tianqiu stopped in his tracks and narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at her, but didn’t say anything.
“It seems you’re really in a hurry then,” Night Tianyu said, smiling. “If it’s something important, we’ll go with you.”
Yun Qianyu turned to look at him and saw that he looked rather pleased about her drawings. She frowned and shook her head.
“Since the time is still early, let’s all go back together,” Yu Ning said as she smiled brightly.
Yun Qianyu thought for a moment and then turned to look at Rong Jing. “I can’t draw anything.”
Rong Jing nodded but didn’t say anything else.
“Since you’re just starting, we’ll wait until you’ve learned more before we see your drawings,” Night Tianqiu said smoothly as he looked at her with a slightly serious expression.
Yun Qianyu rolled her eyes and turned to look at Yu Ning. “I can’t draw anything.”
Yu Ning smiled, looking rather pleased that she had managed to convince them all.
“You’ll regret underestimating me,” Yun Qianyu said with a sneer as she looked back at Night Tianqiu and Night Tianyu.
Night Tianyu laughed loudly. “I look forward to it, Sister Moon.”
Rong Jing didn’t say anything but nodded his head in agreement.hin cuts were made in the curtain fabric. Through these openings, she saw Ye Qingran riding a horse to block their carriage; his exquisite clothes and belt were soiled with gray-black stains, and his...
