Chapter 9 Milk Tea
by Hong Xiaotian were put on hold. The Construction Bureau headed by Zeng Quanming felt the pressure as well. Projects related to Hong Xiaotian’s performance and municipal affairs faced varying degree...Chapter 9 Bubble Tea
After that, a municipal management officer came over and whispered something in Liu Zheng's ear. Then he became even more domineering.
Gong Jun and Yang Yuandao were both of medium build, one standing at five feet ten inches and the other at five feet nine inches, not shorter than people from this side but slimmer. In fact, many criminal investigators had heavy workloads and burdens which sometimes led to suboptimal health conditions. They certainly didn't look as well-nourished and healthy as ordinary police officers.
However, the sharpness in those eyes wasn't something everyone could discern.
In the eyes of these municipal management officers, it was just a routine matter. Moreover, they had their boss backing them up, so what did Liu Zheng have to fear Coldly sizing up Gong Jun and Yang Yuandao, he felt annoyed by this confrontation earlier on but now, with his confidence bolstered, he frowned and asked, "Are you really going to intervene"
"It's just a trivial matter," said Yang Yuandao with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
Liu Zheng glared at them and retorted, "Move it, load the items onto the van, and confiscate everything!" He didn't believe there was anything these petty police officers could do to countermand him. Didn't he even share a drink with their team leader How could they be so brash in his presence
With Liu Zheng's order, several enforcers immediately sprang into action. "Make way! You'll have to bear the consequences yourselves." Two slightly plump municipal management officers strained against Su Licheng's grip on the iron pole of the sunshade umbrella, but it didn't budge. Instead, they were pushed back two steps in the process.
They often clashed with local vendors and their tempers flared up instantly. They whipped out black batons from their waists and swung them towards Su Licheng.
The baton passed by the silent and unresponsive Gong Jun and Yang Yuandao, creating a whistling sound as it struck towards Su Licheng's back.
Su Licheng was no stranger to military honors from his younger days. He sidestepped and pulled in his arm, causing the baton to graze his shoulder with a scorching pain but without serious injury. At the same time, he threw out a punch as he turned, landing it on the slightly plump figure of the attacker who was sent reeling back three steps. Just as the reverberation died down, the man tried to maintain composure for half a second before clutching his stomach and vomiting.
About to go horizontal, in the middle-aged era, they usually rely on having more people to occupy an advantage. I've never seen such a fierce blow before. A few urban management officers were stunned; Liu Zheng slightly drew out his stick and said, "What are you going to do! You dare to resist the law now that you think you're so great Ah!"
XX, forget it, Yang Daoyuan patted Liu Zheng on the shoulder.
"Forget your mother! Don't think that giving you some face means you can go up to heaven. Are you going to move or not If you don't move, I'll hit you too!" Liu Zheng lost his mind and shook off Yang Daoyuan's hand, spitting out a bunch of saliva at him.
"Then there's nothing we can do about it." Gong Jun stretched out his arm to point at Liu Zheng's neck as if he were holding a rooster ready for slaughter. His neck was taut with blood rushing to it, and all the foul language suddenly stopped without a trace.
Gong Jun kicked Liu Zheng in the lower part of his body, then grabbed him by the neck with one hand and threw him down forcefully onto the ground with a dull thud, causing him to kneel on one knee as he was handcuffed.
The action flowed seamlessly. It's hard to imagine that thin Gong Jun could have such brute strength under his control; thus, all six other auxiliary officers were left in awe.
Yang Daoyuan grabbed the slightly plump man who was holding his stomach and vomiting with one hand, pulled him backward, effortlessly flipping him over onto the ground with a groan. He then handcuffed this man as well and dragged both people over to the police car parked on the slope.
Yang Daoyuan and Gong Jun were soldiers brought up by Zhao Lijun; they naturally retained Zhao Lijun's tough demeanor. It was believed that if Zhao Lijun had been here today, he would have acted similarly too. Furthermore, since both of them are criminal investigators, their seasoned combat presence is indeed incomparable to these auxiliary officers who only tussle with vendors over small matters. Thus, the line-up of auxiliary officers stood there wide-eyed like goldfish sculptures, helplessly watching as Liu Zheng and the plump man were taken into the police car.
Yang Daoyuan walked back over, smiled at Su Zhan's parents, then waved to Su Zhan, "Brother Su, Sister Ceng, Little Brother Su, we have other matters today. We'll visit another time. Let’s head back to headquarters first."
Then Yang Daoyuan threw a phrase "If you need people, your superiors can come and pick them up at the Criminal Investigation Team!" over his shoulder as he left.
The black-and-white police car with a Santana sprayed with paint started off. Inside the sedan of the city's urban management bureau director, a cigarette held in hand had unknowingly fallen onto his pants; staring through the rearview mirror with a mix of shock and suspicion at what was happening, he wondered: What exactly is going on here!
Su Cen's parents still made a special call to thank Zhao Lijun, who then criticized over the phone that Comrades Xiao Yang and GONG were not conscious enough. He was already reprimanding them but they must make a profound self-criticism!
The Urban Management Bureau eventually sent someone to mediate. Upon learning that the two individuals involved were subordinates of Zhao Lijun, one side merely gave an official response saying it was a misunderstanding. The head of the Urban Management Bureau was also well aware that although he held his position through connections and was indeed called a bureau chief, compared to law enforcement departments there was still a significant disparity. Although they weren't very difficult to deal with, if Urban Management decided to cause trouble their influence could not be underestimated. Their superior was newly appointed Ceng Quanming who had considerable power. Even the former head of the Municipal Construction Commission Zhou Chunlan was forced out; now he was aligned with the new mayor Hong Xiaotian.
However, to act recklessly in front of Zhao Lijun, known as an iron-blooded police officer, and provoke his subordinates would be a death sentence for them.
The incident didn't end without resolution. For quite some time after that, Su Cen's shop remained undisturbed. Unexpectedly, the matter seemed to have spread among nearby communities and holiday tutoring schools, causing quite a commotion. Many students who frequently visited his shop and pedestrians walking past in the evenings also increased.
Su Cen was somewhat surprised, realizing that this event had inadvertently boosted his family's shop’s reputation. However, it might be due to Wang Ming, the beautiful scenery, attracting these young men and women mainly because of him.
"Hey! Do you want a milk tea I'll treat you!" After work, Wang Ming tied two little braids, wore a thin sweater, knee-length skirt, and white sneakers. She encountered a peak period when nearby students were finishing their tutoring classes, radiating energy that drew attention.
"I don't really like girls' stuff," Su Cen was about to head home from the shop but could walk part of the way with her.
"How about grass jelly then It's cooling and refreshing. You're such a hard-to-please spoiled brat!" Wang Ming's voice cooed, "There are many unique ingredients in it; it’s very tasty!"
After receiving the plastic cup of drink handed over by the milk tea shop, Su Cen was at a loss for words. A few tables in the milk tea shop were occupied by middle school students who curiously observed their interaction.
"It's really good." Wang Ming sipped her milk tea slowly. With a breeze blowing past, her skirt fluttered slightly, and a faint fragrance of youth drifted to Su Cen’s nostrils. "When I was in school, I always dreamed of having an exciting life that could be infinitely wonderful. But now I know how insignificant my existence is in this vast world. No matter how hard you try, it's still difficult to reach your original expectations. Dreams are like watching a cake on TV; you can see it but not touch it. The truth is, even if the cake looks shiny and appealing at first, it will eventually deteriorate behind the scenes."
"Your life is rather bleak."
"Who says I've been making you look at those things recently." Wang Ming then lightly puffed out his chest, looking somewhat melancholic at Su Can, "Besides your insults being proof that you always love me, it seems to me that the more you torment me, the more noble I will appear in your eyes when you eventually learn the truth." Su Can smiled wryly, "Have you been reading La Traviata No wonder your eyes have been swollen lately. Don't worry; you'll probably develop resistance over time."
"Resistance" Wang Ming was puzzled.
"Never mind," Su Can naturally wouldn't tell Wang Ming that the plot of La Traviata would later be extensively adapted and modified by most Korean dramas popular in China, making people shed buckets of tears.
Recently, however, Wang Ming's obedient transformation surprised Su Can. She had started to read many books based on what Su Can told her was true. Of course, these books were all brought from Su Can's home for her. It wasn't a good suggestion or method to suggest that she should return to school halfway through learning; yet since she dreamed of leaving the city in the future, at least during any possible spare time, enriching herself was essential. Some English textbooks were also given to Wang Ming by Su Can in phases.
Now, Wang Ming had no hesitation believing that all of Su Can's foresight came from what she read in books, which greatly piqued her interest in reading. It showed early results; without the constraints of compulsory school textbooks, there was ample time to study topics of personal interest extensively, coupled with some social experiences, making Wang Ming's thoughts increasingly profound compared to peers.
Of course, while Wang Ming mournfully reflected on the sad stories she read recently, Su Can's gaze followed her developing and curvaceous figure, getting deeper and more intimate. The sensation from last time was still vividly remembered by him.
"It looks like your level of lecherousness is directly proportional to your psychological age," looking up, Su Can saw Wang Ming's teasing smile.
Before Su Can could pretend to be calm and vague away the matter, he felt Wang Ming lean down, leaving a light trace of milk tea on his left cheek with her lips that carried foam.
"You don't need any psychological burdens. This is just an initial reward; next time if you can achieve something significant like opening another branch, there will be even greater progress!" Wang Ming stretched out one thumb and winked.dered a treasure in the family. And so Su Cun stayed over as well since it had been a while since he last spent the night at his uncle's house. In reality, the later-life version of Su Cun almost forgo...
