Ye Feimo was quite unhappy. He didn’t care who he offended or what others thought; he just disliked Nuwan going out for social engagements, which reduced the time she could spend with him. Nuwan’s job was already very busy, involving training sessions, events, and promotional activities that kept her traveling from place to place. With these commitments, there were limited times when she could be with him. When she went out for social engagements, sometimes she was too exhausted, slightly drunk, and would fall asleep as soon as she got home. The next day, by the time she woke up, he had already gone to work, so they wouldn’t see each other's faces.
Nuwan talked about this matter with Ye Feimo many times, sitting close together to try to reach a mutual understanding. If necessary, she would even resort to seducing him—there must be ways to resolve the issue amicably. Ye Feimo didn’t have much to say, knowing that Cai Xiaojing was there for Nuwan, and he believed that she wouldn’t suffer any losses.
Currently, the news of Li Yuanyuan and Chen Xiurui leaving had spread like wildfire. The general manager of Anning Entertainment, Gu Xiaobei, repeatedly talked to the four beauties about their work attitudes and gave them opportunities to ease their minds.
Peng Shuyao and Yang Yang wouldn’t leave, which everyone knew. There were rumors within Anning Entertainment about Yang Yang’s relationship with Gu Xiaobei, while Peng Shuyao had conflicts with the higher-ups at Yao Wei and Hua Yun. Apart from Anning, she wouldn’t go anywhere else. Indeed, Anning treated them well; there was no need to abandon their own family.
Ye Feimo didn’t bother much with entertainment-related matters in the past either. He focused most of his energy on real estate, jewelry, and media. He delegated authority over the entertainment division to Gu Xiaobei, rarely getting involved himself. After Nuwan signed a contract with Anning International, Ye Feimo began showing interest in this area. If Li Yuanyuan and Chen Xiurui left, he wouldn’t worry too much. The four beauties of Anning Entertainment had always been the company’s signature stars; after two of them left, Nuwan and Chen Xieru could take their places. It wasn’t a big deal.
Gu Xiaobei analyzed and weighed the pros and cons before deciding to make every effort to keep these people stable.
Even though Nuwan didn’t manage these things herself, she was aware of them and often mentioned this issue to Cai Xiaojing. It would be best if they could find a way for them not to leave.
This day, while accompanying a jewelry merchant cooperating with Anning Entertainment for dinner, Nuwan unexpectedly found that Du Di was also present at the gathering. She had no idea what Du Di actually did or why he was there.
Du Di explained during the meal that the jeweler was his friend, and they occasionally met up for dinner. He didn’t expect her to be there as well; it turned out to be one of the most pleasant dinners Warm had ever attended. The jeweler in question was in her thirties and wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, appearing scholarly and gentlemanly. When Ye Feimo agreed readily when she mentioned having dinner with him today, Warm only realized why he did so after meeting him—this man would never make a woman feel uncomfortable or difficult to deal with.
He was well-mannered, articulate, and possessed impeccable etiquette. No wonder Du Di considered him such good company; though several years older than Du Di, they got along very well, as both were men of the same type. Warm thought to herself that people do indeed tend to associate with those who are similar to them. All of Du Di’s friends resembled him in some way or another, and Ye Feimo's circle included Tang Shuwen, Lin Ning, Gu Producer, Su Ran, Li Diyun, among others—people from the same mold.
Aside from Warm, Anning also had a few other executives present at the meal. One of them was Gu Xiaobei, while two others were managers and general manager of the jewelry department, plus another pair of executives from the Jewelry Association. The business manager was around thirty years old, shrewd yet capable; she outmatched both executives from the association in alcohol consumption—she finished off at least eight glasses without any sign of intoxication whatsoever, which greatly boosted Anning’s reputation. Those two then asked Warm to join them for a round of drinks, but with a chuckle, she merely accepted two shots of white liquor, feeling an immediate burning sensation in her throat. Her alcohol tolerance had improved significantly through continuous social engagements; thus, these two glasses wouldn’t make her drunk at all. However, when those two tried to insist on more rounds, Du Di politely intervened and shielded Warm from further invitations. The atmosphere then turned cordial among the men as they continued their drinking session.
Cai Xiaoqing was quite surprised by how close Warm seemed with Du Di; they hadn’t met many times before, and even though they were getting along well today, who would have thought that Cai’s own sister had hit her earlier
Seeing Du Di shielding Warm from further drinking requests, Cai Xiaoqing found this rather perplexing.
During the dinner party, Warm sat beside Du Di and was much more talkative than usual, with a lot of smiles on her face. For most of the time, she engaged in conversation with Du Di while occasionally offering toasts to the jeweler. Midway through the meal, Warm went to the restroom where her flushed cheeks reflected in the mirror, and the alcohol continued to rise to her head.
After splashing some cold water on her face and touching up her makeup, Cai Xiaoqing who was washing her hands nearby asked, "Nan Nan, when did you become so close with Du Di"
"We’re not exactly close, but I enjoy talking to him."
“What an odd preference of yours; I feel quite uncomfortable around him.” Cai Xiaoqing dried her hands.
Warm smiled and applied lipstick, then tidied her slightly messy hair. "Not at all, Du Di is witty and amiable; how could talking to him be uncomfortable"
"That's probably just with you."
"Anyway, I really enjoy chatting with him—it feels very親切." Warm chuckled as she said this, and the two of them returned to their private room. The executives were already a bit tipsy; they downed a few more drinks before calling it quits.
Cai Xiaojing wanted to see Warm home, but Du Di said, "Miss Cai, Warm and I still want to have one more drink. Why don't you let me take her back later"
Cai Xiaojing looked at Warm, who smiled and nodded in agreement. Cai pulled her aside. "General Manager Ye will call to ask what's going on."
"I'll give him a call and tell him that we’ll head home later." Warm said with a smile. Cai Xiaojing could only let it go. Warm got into Du Di’s car; she genuinely felt that Du Di would never hurt her, and spending time together was very comfortable for both of them. During the gathering, Du Di mentioned that he had been in America for some time before returning to accompany his grandfather. Having lived and worked there for many years, he seldom visited this city where he grew up.
Warm suddenly felt a sense of duty to show him around the city.
A strange impulse welled within her.
"I adore City A; throughout these years, I’ve been to many cities, but my favorite is still City A. Do you like America" Warm asked with a smile.
Du Dixin said, "It's not about liking or disliking; it just feels this way. Where I am doesn't matter to me either."
"How can that be People all have a hometown and roots. A city where one is born and raised is different from other cities," Tan Warming said with a smile. "After staying away from City A for some time, I start missing home. Have you ever had such feelings when nearing your hometown"
"No."
Tan Warming pointed at him and laughed, "You probably don't have any attachment to your hometown. If you did, you'd experience this feeling."
“Maybe.”
The two of them had just finished eating; they ate well and drank a lot. Du Dixin was somewhat uncomfortable from the drinking. The car stopped by the riverbank. Tan Warming supported him and asked, "Are you not feeling well"
Du Dixin waved his hand with a smile. "It’s fine. I just haven't drunk this much in a long time."
"I thought men found it hard to drink alcohol. With someone like you who has many social engagements, your drinking capacity must be quite good," Tan Warming said with a laugh. "I know how uncomfortable one feels after getting drunk. When I first started drinking, even a little would make me drunk, but now I can handle several times more white liquor."
"I drank several bottles.were to lose the baby, could she surviveThis means...Tang Shuwen's child.Could he be so ruthless even towards his own childSince their marriage, he had been tender and considerate towards her. She alm...
