United States, California.

The state of California and the border with Mexico has a small military base nearby where many shrubs are planted. There is an uninhabited area for miles around. The central part is surrounded by high-voltage fencing. This used to be a military base run by the US Army Information Division, then it was changed into a Special Forces training ground and finally became a place where certain agents were trained. It's a very special training camp, but few people know that there is a secret prison underneath this base.

Many political prisoners in America have committed major crimes without confessing. Many important criminals, especially those who need to talk about certain facts, would be transferred here. This is close to the US-Mexico border and just two hours' drive from Mexico. If anything goes wrong, they can throw them over to the Mexican side and get away with it; if something really bad happens and superiors can't control the situation, there's someone to blame.

Mochen personally oversees operations in Sicily while Moyao and Wushuang lead Yun and Feng on a mission to rescue Mo Xiaobai. They haven't detected Mo Xiaobai's exact location but guess he likely is beneath this prison. Moyao couldn't wait for confirmation from others, so as soon as he got the news that Mo Xiaobai was probably there, he flew straight to California. Ye Ningyuan told Mo Chen that it's very possible for Mo Xiaobai to be inside.

Moyao and Wushuang moved through the shrubs carefully until they skillfully crossed the high-voltage fencing. They were all fully equipped. The base isn't large, with over a hundred agents trained in NATO style, highly skilled individuals. Too many people might alert them, so Moyao didn’t bring too many men but only brought Wushuang and Feng who are by his side. The group hid among the shrubs as Moyao observed the terrain using his tablet computer. There were still some errors on their maps of the base, and they had to rely on their own eyes for a better understanding.

The base has six buildings of different heights. Moyao focused on a three-story building based on Xu

Feng muttered, "What kind of training base for American Special Forces, so desolate."

WSD was operating his computer to choose a sniper position while saying, "This place used to be an elite soldier training base. Later on, some political prisoners who had offended someone were sent here and the base was subsequently destroyed. See that building over there Half of it has collapsed. The destruction is serious and the government decided not to spend money on reconstruction but instead changed its location to somewhere else. Hence, gradually this place became a special prison. Because many significant people are being held here, apparently there are agents stationed here for training purposes. However… these agents are already experienced ones. In other words, don’t underestimate them."

"Understood," F&Y said in unison. Black Ecliptic was getting anxious and pointed at the map saying, "This passageway can only allow one person to go through. I’ll be going first; if Xiao Bai is inside, I’ll notify you from which exit to leave. If he’s not here, I will come out quickly. WSD, choose this position as your sniper spot. Wind, pay attention to controlling the power supply and mines in this place. Cloud, get on top of that building shortly. I need to know what is happening outside at all times."

"Understood!" This was not the first time these four had worked together, so their cooperation was well established. Once they were ready, Black Ecliptic put his equipment in a backpack and once everyone’s headphones were working properly, they set off separately. Atop the tallest building of the base were two powerful lights that could light up an area far away very quickly. If someone got caught by these spotlights, he would be exposed very soon. Black Ecliptic calculated the timing accurately and used the shrubs to cover himself while using a rope to glide down to the northeastern corner’s building. His figure then quickly disappeared inside the building. WSD said, "You guys should proceed with caution. Keep in contact."

WSD scanned the eastern building with her scanning mirror and saw that only the second floor was occupied, while all other floors were empty. The view of the prison exit from this building’s eastern side had a 100% rate for sniping. She and Cloud were both on this building; however, WSD chose the fourth floor as her sniper spot whereas Cloud went to the sixth one.

Cloud said, "There are only four people on the second floor. Should we take them out first"

"It’s unnecessary to cause a commotion. We don’t even know if Xiao Bai is here or not. If we kill someone and it gets discovered, our boss will be trapped," WSD said.

WSD and Cloud climbed up to the third floor via pipes outside since there were few people living on this level and the side lights couldn’t reach them. Hence, they easily got to the third floor. One of them went upstairs to the fourth one while the other headed for the sixth floor.

WSD looked at her surroundings through the scope and frowned slightly. "Boss, be careful; their alertness is quite relaxed. I investigated here before and found out that there are four very important political prisoners being held below. They are usually very cautious every night but now they’re so relaxed it’s suspicious."

Since this was a public channel everyone could hear, Cloud continued his report: "The western building is abandoned with no one inside; the northern one has ten people on its first floor and another ten on the second while there are ten more on the fourth. All other floors are unoccupied. The southern building’s ground floor seems to be holding some kind of gathering; there’re many people, probably around forty or fifty. Above each floor is a lookout point with no one patrolling them. Boss, there are four people on the second level of the prison upstairs and only an iron door leading in. If you enter through this door, it will definitely alert them. Instead, you should get inside via the public utility pipe; there’s a passage here allowing you to directly climb down to the prison’s underground area where the exit is at the sewer outlet, making your way up very easy."

Moyao spoke softly, "Feng, go to the northeast corner for support."

...

All of this was done silently. Wearing night vision goggles, Moyao crawled艱難ly through the pipes and reported his position. Each person reported on which direction they should pay attention to and quickly made assumptions about their next three steps.

Moyao soon reached the sewage outlet; above him was the prison. He climbed into the sewer well, secured himself, and skillfully climbed up. Gently lifting the manhole cover, he heard nothing but silence.

Moyao asked, "Feng, I need to know how many surveillance cameras are inside the prison."

Feng replied, "Boss, fortunately, there aren't any. Because most of those imprisoned here are political prisoners, and only those who aren’t stubborn enough end up here; thus, interrogation methods tend to be rather cruel. There's no need to record them unless it’s necessary to avoid leaving evidence."

Moyao acknowledged with a grunt. This underground prison had three levels in total. He was currently on the first level from where he entered through the sewer well. Below him were two more levels, and if he continued crawling down the sewage pipes, he could reach them. However, they would be too dirty, although convenient; he preferred to climb through the ventilation shafts instead.

Due to being built underground, these facilities made it easy for others to break out or escape. Fortunately for Moyao, no one was imprisoned on the first level. He then crawled into a ventilation shaft which could only fit him alone. His equipment had to be moved slowly as he advanced, making his progress extremely difficult. Moyao put away his pistol and magazine, stowed some simple miniature explosives, and discarded his long-barreled gun as it was heavy and made noise while crawling. After climbing through the second level, Moyao used a透視鏡 (through-the-lens device) to look below and saw that several political prisoners were being held on this level. He heard screams of agony one after another, along with harsh interrogations. Just by listening to these sounds, Moyao could tell what kind of torture the people here endured.

Below are seven military men dressed in special forces uniforms questioning a Russian man. His legs have been sawed off, his face is covered in blood, and so is the rest of his body. There isn't an inch that's intact; it’s hard to recognize him anymore. They let him barely hang on to consciousness as several men surround him viciously. Mo Yue notices he is tied to an electric chair which can control the amount of current so as not to kill but enough to drive someone insane. They keep repeating this, testing how much electricity this man can endure. He’s being electrocuted all over his body; his muscles protest and twist in pain as he screams, “Kill me! Kill me!” in Russian. They lean down by his ear, demanding something from him. Clearly, he has received strict anti-pain training and locks himself off mentally, repeatedly shouting, "Kill me," but he doesn’t reveal anything.

When they get tired of the electric chair, they bring two buckets of pepper spray, putting them in the man's amputated leg wounds. The pain is so intense that the man faints completely and loses consciousness; the men curse loudly while doing this. They are conducting this interrogation with three other political prisoners present, all injured severely, incomplete body parts, vacant gazes as if they have become accustomed to such treatment.

Thinking of what would happen if Mo Xiaobai were treated like this made Mo Yue feel he might go mad. Seeing no one here named Xiao Bai, Mo Yue crawls down through the ventilation ducts and reaches the lowest floor with great difficulty only to be surprised by finding nobody there at all. The prison is completely empty; there isn't a single person.

Wu Shuang asks, "Boss, I just heard screams, was it Xiao Bai"

Moshe lowers his voice, "No!"

Wu Shuang doesn’t ask anymore. Mo Yue carefully observed the lowest floor through the periscope multiple times, still hoping to find someone but didn't discover anyone at all; this floor is empty with only a dim light bulb flickering slightly in the underground air that makes it hard to breathe. Feeling utterly hopeless yet daring not to waste time, he slowly crawls back up to the second floor. Moving through the ventilation ducts is painstakingly difficult step by step, and after struggling upward again, Mo Yue looks down from a gap and notices they've switched to another person being tortured; the methods are endless, this man having one eye gouged out with horrific wounds on his face. He should have been quite handsome but now it’s gone.

Mo Yue thinks it's unfortunate that sometimes government interrogations can be inhumane too, especially when desperate for certain secrets, they resort to extreme measures; these special forces clearly are used to such things.

Xiao Bai isn’t here, Mo Yue feels relieved. As he’s about to leave, suddenly a man shouts loudly, "Rotten brat, see his end See how long you can last!"ed and agreed when Parker invited her out for a meal together. She nodded and followed him. When Mo Bailangwei returned home, he was surprised to find his boss sitting in the living room downstairs. Mo...
